Origin: Emilia Romagna, Italy
The history of the Poderi dal Nespoli estate, founded in 1929, spans four generations of Romagna winemakers with an unshakable faith in their land and its fruits, tirelessly dedicated to its promotion by means of constant research and improvement.
Sangiovese is the great red grape variety, virtually synonymous with the world-famous red wines of Tuscany, which is labelled in the neighbouring Emilia-Romagna region as Sangiovese di Romagna. It is a relatively slow ripening grape variety, which results in an extended growing season and richer, stronger and longer-lived wines than those made from early-ripening varieties.
The Sangiovese Riserva "Il Nespoli" has an intense red ruby colour and shows a well-structured and ripe character. It is a wine of great complexity combining typical marasca cherry, blackberry and plum notes of the Sangiovese variety together with notes of liquorice and roasted coffee beans which come from the ageing in French barriques. A touch of vanilla is coming from the limited use of American oak. Soft and warm, with well-balanced tannins, it has an excellent potential for ageing.
